we are in active contact with over 4000 ols sending 2-3 emails per year notifying them of events, reunions and information, and we post the ol news worldwide to every member once a year, in february. so please ensure we have your up to date details and please encourage your peers to do the same so can contnue to build the ol community. our facebook group has doubled in size this year and we are delighted to now have 1400 members! happy browsing! president's message dear fellow ols welcome to the st lawrence college website. our purpose is to help all members of the ol family to connect with one another and participate in the life of the college. in addition to supporting the long-established ol society groups, plans are being developed for a range of new initiatives including a careers networking programme, enhanced communications with ols and parents and an expanded programme of events reaching out worldwide. we look forward to sharing details of these new initiatives as they come on stream, and we would be delighted to hear your ideas, so do please get in touch. the society can only thrive by hearing from you and receiving your support at the growing number of functions both at the college, regionally and worldwide. in turn, the college fully appreciates the importance of its alumni society and the support it gives the school. maintaining the strong bond between the society and students (now and in the future) is crucial to the success of the college. the ol society is steered by a committee which is elected at the agm. the committee meets four to five times a year to discuss and plan old lawrentian matters, including arranging events, reunions, and most importantly how to keep the ols connected. we are always looking for new faces to join the committee, with new ideas and enthusiasm to the table. ultimately, we would like to source a representative from each year to be their ‘year’ ambassador to assist contacting peers when a special anniversary reunion approaches. if you are that person, or wish to nominate someone, we would really like to hear from you. the college's alumni and development office look after the on a daily basis. mrs kerry brown is the alumni and development manager and is also the committee's secretary. she and her colleague, kelly jury are always delighted to hear from you at o lsociety @slcuk.com / 00 44 1843 572932. we hope to hear from you soon and to see you in person at an event in the near future. best wishes james barden grange ‘84 ol president. principal's message dear ols since arriving it has been good to get to know a number of you, and i greatly value your ongoing attachment to your alma mater, and the valuable ways you contribute through events like the careers fair. i have also appreciated the wisdom and advice of many of you as we have considered how the school can continue to develop. i would like to take this opportunity to feed back to you how the school is doing and what the next plans are. st lawrence is in very good heart. we are larger than we have been for ten years, and now stand at 440 pupils (in the senior school, ages 11 - 18). this growth is based on success; academically we are continually improving, our sport continues to dominate our circuit, our hockey teams formidable (2 of our teams are now kent schools indoor hockey champions, and our u13s are national champions); our cultural activities are also quickly developing, with the fantastic taylor hall theatre providing a wonderful resource for the performing arts. our plans are to build upon this success, and the governors have approved a number of developments. the first is already partially complete: a new water based astro pitch, a practice pitch, plus new cricket and rugby pitches. phase ii of the sports plan willl be to create a pavilion to overlook these pitches. before then we will first complete our academic development, a new science, design, technology & art school, on the main school site, facing the classroom block from the other end of chapel green. the work is fast progressing and completion is hoped by june 2018. we would like to complete all the above projects within the next few years, subject to support, finance and planning permission. i’m sure you’ll agree these are very exciting plans indeed, and i hope you will be able to visit the college and take part in many of the planned events in the near future. should you wish, please take a look at the current college website www.slcuk.com to see the latest news and developments. finally, i do hope you enjoy viewing the old lawrentian website, and renewing ties of friendship that are such a hallmark of this school. i look forward to seeing many of you at the next ol event. best wishes antony antony spencer ma (oxon) aca sign in to members area email password forgotten password? register as a member you can become a member of this site and keep in touch with other old lawrentians. please contact the secretary, kerry brown. announcements 4th slc kentish fest this is the 4th year we have held this fun, fundraising event and this year we are going even bigger and better and have dodgem cars!
